Janma Kundali

The journey of a traditional Hindu wedding begins with the arrangement of the alliance, often known as Vivāha Sambandha, where families seek a suitable match, ideally through Kundali Milan or Horoscope Matching based on Janma Kundali (birth charts). This alignment of Gunas (qualities) as per Ashtakoota system ensures compatibility in Vedic astrology.

Roka / Nishchay Tamulam

Roka / Nishchay Tamulam marks the first formal ceremony after families agree on the match. This involves an exchange of gifts and sweets, symbolizing the start of an auspicious bond and a promise of marriage.

Lagna Patrika / Muhūrta Nirṇaya

Lagna Patrika / Muhūrta Nirṇaya follows, where the auspicious date and time (Shubh Muhurat) for the wedding is decided by family priests using Panchang (Hindu calendar) and astrological charts. A formal Lagna Patrika (wedding agreement letter) is written and exchanged.

Haldi (Pithi) Ceremony

Haldi (Pithi) Ceremony is conducted separately for bride and groom where a paste made of haldi (turmeric), chandan (sandalwood), and rose water is applied to purify the body, mind, and soul. Turmeric is also believed to enhance beauty and radiance.

Mehendi (Henna)

Mehendi (Henna) Ceremony is a joyful function where intricate henna designs are applied on the bride’s hands and feet. It is a celebration of feminine beauty and the designs often include the groom’s initials symbolizing love and union.

Sangeet / Nritya Ratri

Sangeet / Nritya Ratri is a night of music and dance, traditionally performed to seek divine blessings through joy. It represents the mingling of two families in celebration before the solemn wedding rituals.

Mandapa Sthapana

Mandapa Sthapana marks the beginning of the main wedding day, where a Mandapa (sacred altar) is built and sanctified with Vedic mantras. The couple will sit here facing the sacred Agni (fire god), which is the eternal witness in a Hindu marriage.

Ganesh Pujan

Ganesh Pujan is performed first to invoke Lord Ganesha’s blessings to remove all obstacles and ensure a smooth ceremony. The priest chants Ganapati Atharvashirsha and offers Durva grass, modaks, and flowers to the deity.

Kanyādāna

Kanyādāna is one of the most sacred rituals, where the bride’s father offers his daughter to the groom, symbolizing the entrusting of his child to a worthy partner. The bride is considered a form of Lakshmi, and the groom as Narayana. The mantra chanted is “Kanyām dadāmi te hastam, dharmapatnīm tvam kuru”.

Pāṇigrahaṇa

Pāṇigrahaṇa is the ritual where the groom holds the bride’s hand, symbolizing unity and mutual acceptance. It is accompanied by vows taken before the fire, committing to a shared life of dharma, artha, and kāma.

Mangalya Dharana / Maṅgalsūtra Bandhanam

Mangalya Dharana / Maṅgalsūtra Bandhanam involves tying the Maṅgalsūtra, a sacred thread around the bride’s neck, symbolizing marital status and the groom’s protection of her well-being. It is accompanied by the chant “Māṅgalyaṁ tantunānena mama jīvana hetunā”.

Agni Pradakṣiṇā / Saptapadī

Agni Pradakṣiṇā / Saptapadī is the most vital ritual, where the couple walks seven steps (Saptapadi) around the sacred fire, taking solemn vows of companionship, health, strength, prosperity, progeny, spiritual growth, and lifelong friendship. Each step represents a sacred commitment, and the ritual concludes with the declaration of becoming husband and wife.

Sindoor Dān and Ring Exchange

Sindoor Dān and Ring Exchange follow, where the groom applies Sindoor (vermilion) on the bride’s hair parting and exchanges rings. This act finalizes the union in the eyes of society and tradition.

Āśīrvāda / Blessings

Āśīrvāda / Blessings are received from elders, where rice grains and flowers are showered as a symbol of prosperity and fertility. The Guruji/Panditji, family, and invited elders chant blessings such as “Sada Saubhagyavati Bhava” (may you always be blessed with marital bliss).

Bidaai Ritual

The bride’s emotional farewell, where she leaves her parental home, showered with rice/flowers as elders chant blessings like "Sada Saubhagyavati Bhava" (may you be eternally blessed). Symbolizes her transition to a new life with her husband’s family.

Gṛhapravesha

"Gṛhapravesha is the sacred final ritual where the bride ceremonially 'nudges' (sparshana) a pot of rice at the threshold, invoking prosperity and affirming her divine role as the household’s Lakshmi."

"Hearts united as destined by divine will"

We specialize in authentic Vedic matchmaking that goes beyond superficial profiles, incorporating Janma Kundali (birth chart analysis), Guna Milan (36-point compatibility system), and Gotra (lineage) verification to ensure spiritually aligned unions. Each match is carefully curated to preserve the sanctity of Hindu marriage traditions while respecting individual preference.

Our expertise extends to orchestrating complete Vedic weddings, where we bring to life every sacred ritual - from the sacred Nischayathartham (engagement ceremony) to the emotional Bidaai (farewell), with every ritual in between including the sacred Saptapadi (seven vows around the holy fire). These ceremonies are conducted by learned priests in accordance with ancient scriptures, creating truly blessed unions that honor the complete journey of marriage.

What sets us apart is our deep commitment to the Sanatani way - that perfect balance of scriptural wisdom and practical compatibility. We carefully verify each profile and guide families through the entire matrimonial journey, ensuring traditions are preserved without compromising on modern expectations.

At Sanatani Vivaah, we don’t just arrange marriages—we bless unions for lifelong harmony, the Sanatani way. From the first sacred vow to the final blessings, this is what it truly means to be Connecting Hearts, the Sanatani Way.
